Virgin Radio boss to join EMAP dance

Emap Performance’s new dance music division has poached Virgin Radio promotions director, Rob Ramsey, to head its sponsorship and promotions department.

Ramsey will be responsible for all promotional and sponsorship activity for Emap Performance Dance covering magazine title Mixmag, the Magic FM radio network, Kiss 100 and Kiss TV.

Ramsey will join the company in January 2001. He will head a team of four people and report to commercial director Pam Hargreaves.

Emap Performance was split into three different divisions each responsible for brands falling under a particular music genre – rock, pop and dance – earlier this month.

Before joining Virgin Radio in 1996, where he has been promotions director since 1999, Ramsey was head of fundraising and events at Capital Radio and head of community for BRMB. He began his media career in sales with MSM in 1993.
