Prudential hires Halifax boss to head up new e-commerce arm

Prudential Financial Services has poached Halifax online chief Jaz Faggu, to head the newly created e-commerce division within its marketing department.

Faggu will be the new head of e-commerce and direct, a post that has been created following the merger in September of Prudential’s group pensions and retail divisions.

Faggu will report directly to the marketing director, Sean Tomkins, as well as to Rodney Baker-Bates, the chief executive of Prudential Financial Services.

Faggu says: “The on-going restructure is intended to make the company more customer-centric. The e-commerce department will be looking at creating a virtual Pru.”

Expansion plans for the e-commerce division include providing multi-channel financial opportunities for customers, through Internet and mobile phones.

Earlier this year, Prudential moved into mobile financial services – teaming up with Vodafone-Airtouch – which will allow mobile phone users access to Prudential insurance products. The merger of the pensions and retail divisions forms part of a major restructure at Prudential, and has prompted many departures from the retail side of the business.

Prudential Retail’s managing director Roger Flynn, marketing director Frank Wilson and head of brands Stephanie Campbell all left following the merger.
