IPC Southbank restructures women’s monthlies team

IPC SouthBank, publisher of women’s monthly magazines, has shaken up its management team in a bid to significantly increase its market share.

Sue James, publishing director of the women’s lifestyle group, has been promoted to editorial director of the group’s women’s community titles. These titles include: Woman & Home, Essentials, and Family Circle. She will also take over day-to-day editorial control of Woman & Home from Sarah Kilby, who is to leaving the company without a job to go to.

Publishing director Rita Lewis takes over publishing responsibility for the women’s community titles, in addition to her existing fashion portfolio. Linda Swidenbank, publisher of Family Circle and Woman & Home, becomes publisher for the whole of the community group and will report to Lewis.

All marketing teams within SouthBank will now report directly to Helen Farquhar, who joined IPC Media as strategic marketing director a month ago from Procter & Gamble (MW September 7).

IPC SouthBank managing director Tim Brooks says: “The company is planning significant investments in marketing our products next year, and these initiatives will now be led across the group by Helen Farquhar.”

l John Steel has been promoted to group sales manager for the IPC Music & Lifestyle group of titles, which include NME, Later and Loaded. Currently account manager within central sales for the IPC Group, he will take over from Martin Corke, who has moved on to Innovator where he takes up the role of advertising director.
