Ogilvy & Mather (O&M) has lost its &£4m account for the general insurance business of Zurich Financial Services in the UK, which includes the Eagle Star Insurance brand. The business has been awarded to Joshua Agency, the integrated services arm of Grey Advertising.

Joshua has been working on both the life and the general insurance business of Zurich Financial Services, UK.

Eagle Star is the UK general insurance business of the European insurance company Zurich Financial Services Group (ZFSG), which provides life and general insurance services.

The change in the agency situation follows the recent promotion of the former marketing director of Zurich Financial Services,UK Life, David Sim to the role of group marketing director of Zurich Financial Services, UKISA, which covers both life and general insurance business.

A spokeswoman for ZFSG says: “We have parted very amicably with O&M. But we are in a process of unifying all our brands in the UK and globally. The company is looking at whether it wants to function as a ‘mono’ or a ‘multi’ brand. And it has been decided that Joshua will help us to build a brand strategy.”

However, she says there are no immediate plans to drop the Eagle Star brand.

The other ZFSG brands existing in the UK are pensions business Allied Dunbar, asset management business Threadneedle, and Zurich Municipal, a general insurance company for local authorities.

O&M produced a new Eagle Star campaign being rolled out on national TV.
