ScottishPower signs retail deal with Tiny Computers

The retail arm of electricity generator ScottishPower has entered into a partnership with PC manufacturer and retailer Tiny Computers, to introduce a range of computer products to its out-of-town stores for the first time.

ScottishPower has 190 outlets within the UK, through which it sells white branded goods, marketed under the ScottishPower banner. It has entered an agreement with Tiny Computers to sell PCs through concessions in stores located in retail parks. The trial is taking place at four ScottishPower stores in Northampton, Bedford, Edinburgh and Inverness.

The concessions will sell Tiny PCs and accessories such as digital cameras, scanners and printers and will be staffed by Tiny sales people.

Tiny PCs, however, will not be sold through the ScottishPower high street retail outlets, since the computer retailer already has a high-street presence with 140 showrooms nationwide.

A spokesman for ScottishPower says: “The national roll out of this partnership will happen early next year, if it proves to be a success”.

The energy company also has plans to advertise the partnership, following the national roll out.

ScottishPower Retail is understood to be reviewing its creative account worth about &£10m. The review follows the appointment of Ronnie Wayte, the former deputy group director at M&C Saatchi, as head of retail marketing (MW August 31).

Faulds Advertising handles ScottishPower Retail’s creative business, and the parent company ScottishPower uses Bartle Bogle Hegarty for its brand advertising.
