CD:UK spin-off magazine to be launched in the New Year

Attic Futura is to launch a new magazine, CD:UK, as a spin-off from the CITV programme presented by Ant, Dec and Cat Deeley.

The first issue of the monthly magazine goes on sale February 23, coverpriced £1.80, and is the result of a licensing agreement between Attic Futura and Blaze Television (a division of Zenith Entertainment).

CD:UK magazine will compete against TOTP, Smash Hits, Live & Kicking and Attic Futura’s own title TV Hits. The market is worth £26m annually, a teen entertainment title is sold every two minutes, according to the publisher.

Jo Upcraft, editor of the title was previously features editor at Sugar and editorial director Pauline Haldane launched TV Hits in the UK.

Advertising sales will be overseen by Attic Futura commercial director Caroline Connor and headed by Lisa Tookey, ad controller of the youth and entertainment group and ad manager Matt Slade.

Haldane says: “Editorially CD:UK magazine is a cool mix of pop and entertainment, celebs, soaps and film. Our target market is teenagers aged 11 to 16 who are heavily into pop, gossip and trends.”

The target audience will have a 70 per cent female bias. Ant, Dec and Cat will appear regularly in the magazine but will not form its main focus.
