Madeleine Albright, the US Secretary of State, stars in a new TV and press advertising campaign for the United Nations Refugee Agency which breaks globally on December 14.
Albright, herself a refugee from Soviet aggression in Czechoslovakia at the age of 11, is seen dancing and miming to the Aretha Franklin hit Respect.
The United Nations High Com missioner for Refugees is trying to promote the message that refugees should be regarded as individuals, who are often highly qualified to bring significant benefit to their new environments, rather than as a nuisance.
The campaign is part of the UN Refugee Agency’s celebrations to mark 50 years of operations, during which time it is estimated to have helped 50 million refugees to escape persecution in their home countries.
The campaign was created by Young & Rubicam Geneva and takes the theme “50 million success stories”.
