Rennie signs Christmas TV sponsorship package

Carlton Television has signed its first sponsorship deal under the new ITC code. It will see Rennie sponsor 30 Christmas programmes in a &£750,000 package.

Rennie, the indigestion brand made by pharmaceutical company Roche, will have credits alongside 30 Christmas programmes, including the festive specials of You’ve Been Framed, Stars in Their Eyes, The Frank Skinner Show as well as four James Bond films and family movie Jingle All The Way.

The sponsorship will run until December 30 and will not affect programmes such as Coronation Street, which is already sponsored by Cadbury. Eleven different Rennie credits have been designed by Bates UK.

Toyota, which signed a five-year, &£18m sponsorship deal with ITV, is in its fourth year and will again have sponsored credits on almost every programme running from December 31 for 32-and-a-half-hours.

Panasonic has sponsored programming in the week-long run-up to Christmas for the past three years, with an annual sponsorship spend of &£500,000.

Carlton Television and Carlton Interactive have also signed a &£200,000 deal with Interactive Exchange & Mart to sponsor two six-part series of Pulling Power, the motoring show.
