Sainsbury chief takes over Taste
Sainsbury head of e-commerce marketing, Nick Adderley, has been appointed marketing director of the new Taste Network, a joint venture between the supermarket chain and Carlton Communications.
Sainsbury and Carlton both have their own food websites, tasteforlife.co.uk and simplyfood.co.uk respectively. The joint venture will see these two websites combined under the name taste.co.uk, which will be launched at the same time next year as the television channel, tasteTV.
Adderley, who has held various senior brand marketing positions with Sainsbury since he started with the company in 1996, will report directly to Antony Ellis, chief executive of the network.
Ellis previously worked as managing director of Clever Media, a WPP Group company, where he developed mixed media channels for Freeserve and BT.
Other board appointments are Miranda Pode as operations director, Charlotte Tookey as content director and Sarah Brookings as finance director.
E-commerce marketing manager Catherine Pope will temporarily take over as head of e-commerce until a replacement for Adderley is found.
A press and online advertising campaign to support the new channel and website will run in Spring 2001 as they are launched.
The Taste Network will air cooking programmes, which allow customers to download recipes and order food and drink via television and the Internet.
