Quantum New Media expands into Europe

Quantum New Media Services, the interactive television (iTV) and Internet planning and buying agency which is a division of media independent Booth Lockett Makin, is to expand its European operations. The development follows the creation of a UK new business unit to seek UK clients.

Former managing director of The Media Factor Paul Booth – brother of BLM founding partner Steve Booth – joins as marketing director – Carphone Warehouse marketer Caroline Cederlund joins as marketing manager.

The creation of the UK new business unit will allow director Paul Longhurst to concentrate on expanding the business in Europe. The aim is to build a presence in France and Holland first, with other countries to follow later.

Longhurst says Quantum is planning to double its workforce from 30 to 60 this year, and will be aggressively pursuing new business. “Ninety per cent of our clients are traditional businesses. From an iTV point of view, it is extremely hot,” he says. Existing clients include Domino’s Pizza, Halifax and IF.

At the end of last year, Quantum hired Scottish Courage media controller David Crawley to launch a Scottish office offering new-media advice. Opening early this year it will hire a team of six new-media strategists.
