Regan Hook has been appointed marketing director of the BBC’s online ventures, Beeb.com and Beeb.net.
She replaces Lesley Henry, who left earlier this month to join cable operator Telewest as head of broadcast activity (MW January 4).
Hook, who was previously head of customer relationship management for Beeb Ventures, will be responsible for overseeing all of the marketing and brand positioning for shopping portal Beeb.com and Internet service provider Beeb.net.
Prior to joining Beeb Ventures in September last year, she was database marketing consultant at TBWA/GGT Direct.
Hook, who has more than ten years’ experience in above-the-line and below-the-line marketing, will report to Patrick Hannon, chief commercial officer at Beeb Ventures.
She says: “We have great ambitions for Beeb.com. We want it to be the number one shopping destination. It’s a great brand and we are in a good position.”
Beeb.com is the fourth most visited retail website in the UK, according to Jupiter MMXI research published last November.
The site features a number of shopping guides including Top Gear, Gardeners’ World and Top of the Pops, as well as webzines based on BBC Worldwide brands.
Beeb.com and Beeb.net are owned by Beeb Ventures, a subsidiary of BBC Worldwide – the commercial arm of the BBC – and TH Li Global Internet Managers.
