Sharpening up your razor facts

Your article (MW November 9) contains some factual inaccuracies, which I wish to correct

Supermax 3, the world’s first three-blade disposable razor has been launched in the US and is achieving fantastic results – it is already one of the fastest selling items in its category.

However, to suggest that we had taken 26 per cent of the disposable razor market in the US is perhaps premature. The month-on-month sales figures do, however, clearly demonstrate the arrival of a major new player in the disposable razor sector – for example in November, in the US drug chains, Supermax 3 was already one of the top five best selling products in its category.

Your article also indicated that it was out intention to enter the system razor market. At present, our attention is focused on ensuring the success of Supermax 3, which is now on sale in the UK and performing well.

I anticipate further product launches, but we have no plans at this stage to launch a system product in the UK. As the world’s second largest manufacturer of razor blades, it is safe to assume – when the time is right – we will bring our innovation to the system sector as well.
