Lycos UK is launching a &£2.3m television ad campaign to promote Lycos Link Directory, a list of personally recommended Internet sites.

The 30-second ad, which breaks on February 19, was created by Leagas Delaney, with media buying by BBJ.

The ad shows a panel of six black labradors in place of the judges at an ice-skating championship, complete with electronic scoreboards.

After judging a number of websites the panel recommends a site featuring poodles, followed by the strapline “For Lycos recommends, look for the labrador”.

The labrador is the symbol used by Lycos to draw attention to recommended websites.
