Pure launches CD-ROM title

Pure Communications, the interactive media company, is launching what it claims is the UK’s first men’s magazine in CD-Rom format tomorrow (Thursday).

Enter, a monthly publication, will target the 18- to 35-year-old male market. The initial print run will be 100,000, on sale at the trial price of &£1. The second issue will be priced between &£2.99 and &£3.50.

The magazine, which already exists in Ireland, will be mounted on a sheet of glossy card to look like a conventional magazine cover. It will appear on-shelf with “lad” magazines and men’s lifestyle publications.

Donna Nicholson, the managing director of Pure Communications, says: “The men’s lifestyle sector is becoming a bit boring. The market is ready for something like Enter.

“Our core target is 18- to 34-year-old males, but because of the medium we expect to get the 15-year-olds as well. Enter will deliver the perennial male passion on a CD.”

Earlier this month, Farm won the creative account to launch the magazine. New PHD Compass handles the media.

Pure Communications has plans to introduce more titles on CD-Roms and is expecting to announce a second title in the summer. Details of the title are yet to be announced.
