Sony Broadcast & Professional Europe has appointed Gary Pepler as its new divisional director for marketing communications.

Sony Broadcast & Professional Europe has appointed Gary Pepler as its new divisional director for marketing communications.

In the new position, created after manager Jennifer Berry left to set up her own company, Pepler will be responsible for all marketing communication throughout Europe.

He was formerly the global advertising director responsible for media strategy, brand development, agency management and partner advertising programmes.

Pepler has also been managing director of Publicis Technology, where he handled the Oracle, Microsoft, HP and Sony accounts.

At Sony, he will oversee the marketing of professional sound and video equipment.

Pepler says: “I joined Sony to lead a new generation of brand and marketing communications.

“Within broadcast and professional services we have a number of different businesses, from medical to conferencing and broadcast for Sky and the BBC. We are seeing a convergence of the needs and requirements of the different brands. Where there is a synergy, I hope to bring planning and management together.”

Sony B&P Europe president Miles Flint says: “Pepler’s wealth of experience in international marketing, communications and brand initiatives makes him a true asset.”

Last year the company launched an initiative to sell its products directly through the Internet, a first for a major broadcast supplier.
