Time seeks European director for Fortune

Time, the magazine publishing unit owned by AOL Time Warner, is seeking its first European marketing director for the fortnightly business publication, Fortune.

The move follows the recent restructure within the Fortune group, as part of its continuing focus on European growth.

The business publication has restructured its European sales team in an effort to lure more pan-Euro advertisers. The magazine has appointed national ad managers in Germany, France and Switzerland.

In the UK, the former advertising sales director for Fortune Europe, Regina Gill, has been promoted to associate publisher. Gill will be responsible for expanding the magazine’s coverage and increasing readership throughout the region.

Area sales director Steve Middleton will be responsible for the UK, the Netherlands, Scandinavia and the Benelux countries.

As part of Fortune’s extended editorial focus on Europe, the magazine will include a UK special report in April, German special report in June and a French special report in October.

Fortune has a European circulation of 85,000 and its ad revenue has more than doubled from $8.2m (£5.7m) in 1996 to $16.7m (£11.5m) in 2000.

Time launched the UK version of US lifestyle magazine, InStyle, earlier this month.
