One 2 One moots standalone B2B brand

Deutsche Telekom-owned One 2 One is considering using a separate brand to target business customers.

The mobile phone network is looking at using either the T-Mobile brand – the name of the network operated by Deutsche Telekom in Germany – or using the parent company’s name in connection with a network designed for business users.

One 2 One is also looking to team up with a computer or IT company to create a virtual mobile phone network that will work in association with other brands in order to create creditability with business users.

It has experience of the virtual mobile network market, after teaming up with the Virgin Group to launch Virgin Mobile in 1999.

One 2 One marketing director Tim Yates says: “We are still committed to the One 2 One master brand. We have always said that there will be products that would benefit from coor sub-branding.”

One 2 One, the fourth-largest network operator in the UK, will continue to target personal users and small to medium-sized businesses.

The Financial Times Group has set up a joint venture with The Carphone Warehouse to launch an exclusive virtual mobile network service through BT Cellnet. The FT-branded, Internet-enabled phones will provide access to breaking news and share prices.
