Telegraph.co.uk appoints chief

Hollinger Telegraph New Media has appointed Clare Bolton as the first marketing chief of its online network, Telegraph.co.uk.

Specialist channels for money, motoring, jobs and news will be launched over the next few months.

Bolton will be responsible for developing marketing strategies to promote the new network of sites, while building on The Telegraph brand’s existing success in appealing to a broader online audience. A multi-million pound ad campaign to promote the revamped site, created by J Walter Thompson, will break this autumn.

She also oversaw the repositioning of the brand as a “work mentor”. Bolton will report to Matthew Duffy, business development director at Telegraph.co.uk.

Bolton says: “My aim is to position Telegraph.co.uk – with its high standards of journalism, breadth of content, exclusive third party partnerships and advanced levels of customisation – as more than just an online newspaper, appealing to a broader user base.”

Telegraph.co.uk business development director Matthew Duffy says: “Bolton joins us at an important time when Telegraph.co.uk is embarking on a redevelopment project. Her experience in new economy marketing will prove invaluable.”
