The Times teams up with Soho bar for cocktail guide

The Times has teamed up with trendy Soho bar Lab to launch an interactive CD-Rom guide to making cocktails.

The CD-Rom was the brainchild of Lab owner Douglas Ankrah and will enable users to visit some of London’s most exclusive cocktail bars and pick up tips from the most popular “mixologists” or bartenders.

It will be distributed with copies of The Times in the second week of June.

Ankrah is still looking for a corporate sponsor for the CD-Rom, which he hopes to turn into a bi-annual series with content tailored to suit occasions such as summer parties or Christmas celebrations.

Major drinks companies have been invited to feature their brands on the CD-Rom, which will be aimed at 25to 35-year-olds.

The CD will feature information on how to create and equip a well-stocked home bar, including advice on the best brands to use for specific cocktails.

There will be links to the websites of all bars featured on the CD-Rom, such as Lab, 10 Room and Che, as well as a celebrity section giving details of stars’ favourite tipples.

Lab was set up by Ankrah, aformer owner of the London Academy of Bartending, two years ago and quickly became one of the capital’s coolest hangouts.
