Boots and Granada have joined forces to launch The Wellbeing Network (www.wellbeing.com), billed as an integrated digital TV channel and website that offers advice and information on health and beauty, parenting, fitness and nutrition.

The Wellbeing TV channel, on air for 12 hours a day on ONdigital and Sky Digital, will be presented by celebrities such as Anna Raeburn, Wendy Turner, Toyah Willcox and Colleen Nolan. It will be supported by a resident panel of experts, including GPs, osteopaths, paediatricians and make-up artists.

On-air interaction with presenters and specialists will be extended on to the website once a programme has ended. With more than two-thirds of its content broadcast live, the TV channel hopes to respond quickly to topical health issues.

Viewers can access the TV channel through the website, which will also carry medical information endorsed by the British Medical Association. An “Ask a pharmacist” service will be linked to Boots.

The site also contains an e-commerce element offering 10,000 items from Boots. The service will stock a mix of own-brand and non-Boots products and promises to help customers track purchases from order through to delivery. Customers with a Boots Advantage Card will be awarded four points in the pound – the same incentive as in-store Boots purchases.

The new website will become Boots’ primary e-commerce outlet in the UK. Its current online shopping presence, Boots.co.uk, will be absorbed into the new service.

The Wellbeing Network will follow the lives, both on TV and the website, of 100 people who have pledged to improve their health. The website will feature extra footage and give viewers the chance to talk directly to the participants.
