Ministry of Sound seeks sponsors for 16-hour summer dance festival

Nightclub company Ministry of Sound is looking for brands to sponsor a summer dance festival called Knebworth 01.

The sponsorship opportunities include headline sponsor in the title of the event and sponsorship of 13 different arenas around the venue.

The dance festival, which has a capacity of 50,000, is to be staged at Knebworth House in Hertfordshire, traditionally associated with rock events.

The event – which is to take place on August 11 at 2pm and finishes at 6am the following morning – will be shown at a later date on Channel 4. The Ministry is still negotiating with BBC Radio 1 to broadcast the event.

Knebworth 01 follows a similar event held on New Year’s Eve at the Millennium Dome, where Ministry staged a 12-hour “rave” for 20,000 clubbers. The sponsors included Bacardi, BT Cellnet and Budweiser.

“As this is a completely new property we feel it’s a really good opportunity for sponsors. We’re obviously looking for brands like telecoms, as they work so well within the youth sector,” says CM Harper, director of sponsorship for Ministry.

Harper adds that the event will be annual and the music played at each of the arenas will be “varied”.
