Tempus scoops Vodafone media

Vodafone Group has appointed Tempus Group to co-ordinate and manage its multi-million pound global communications.

Vodafone has also reportedly appointed Wieden & Kennedy as its global creative agency, after also shortlisting WCRS and McCann-Erickson. It appointed WCRS as its UK agency, replacing BMP DDB, as incumbent on the £47m account (MW February 1).

Tempus claims that its division Tempus Partners – created to manage a range of the group’s services for clients, on a tailor-made basis – has been appointed as the telecoms company’s “global lead agency”.

The services being provided by Tempus include strategic marketing advice and internal communication, through Added Value; design skills through BrownSDR; digital expertise through Outrider; and help on media communications strategy from CIA.

A Vodafone spokeswoman says: “As far as I am aware they are advisers to us. Part of that is strategic advice to the group on media. Carat is continuing under contract to us, as global media buying agency.”

She adds: ” We have not actually appointed a {global creative} agency.”

Tempus Group has announced its preliminary results which showed a 29 per cent rise in pre-tax profits for the year ended December 31 on Monday to £21.5m. Revenues were up 64 per cent to £151.3m.
