Tories fail to snort at curry joke

A curious tale about the Conservative Party came to the Diary’s attention this week, from ad agency The Immediate Sales Company.

The agency created an ad for a new Westminster restaurant, The Cinnamon Club, featuring nothing more than two “lines” of curry powder.

However, Tories putting together the programme for the party’s annual ball at The Cinnamon told the agency they wanted the ad suppressed, but refused to give their reasons.

Restaurant owner Iqbal Wahab was baffled and has asked the Tories to pay for the costs of the ad. Surely this is taking an anti-drugs policy a bit too far, snorts the Diary.
