Hyundai Car UK has appointed Paul Sugden to head its advertising.
Sugden joins from Coca-Cola, where he was a senior brand manager. He has worked in a number of roles for Coke in Africa and Turkey.
Reporting to Hyundai’s marketing director Jonathan Spence, Sugden takes up the role of brand communications manager this week.
The position has been newly created within the marketing department and will involve the management and development of national and local brand communications for Hyundai.
As well as overseeing advertising, Sugden will be in charge of brand identity, relationship marketing, promotions, events and sponsorship.
Spence, who joined from Dixons two years ago, had previously overseen much of Sugden’s remit.
Spence says:”Sugden has extensive experience in consumer marketing and will bring to the business the necessary skills and knowledge to take the Hyundai brand to the next stage of its development.”
Hyundai’s &£13m advertising business is handled by Leagas Delaney. Sugden will oversee this account.
Leagas Delaney created last year’s campaign for Hyundai’s Amica model. The ad starred the former Bros singer Luke Goss and used the group’s most famous song “When will I be famous?”.
