AOL Europe lures Yahoo! marketer for Euro drive

AOL Europe has poached a senior marketer from arch-rival Yahoo!. Jerry Glover joins as senior vice-president of interactive marketing and managing director of Netscape Europe.

Glover will be based in London, and will report to both Michael Lynton, president of AOL International, and John Heins, vice-president of sales and international operations for Netscape.

Glover was previously commercial director of Yahoo! Europe, and had responsibility for all commercial activities across eight countries, as well as expansion and entry into new markets.

“Jerry Glover’s experience will help us pioneer the e-commerce market in Europe,” says Lynton, “as we widen our growing lead in ad and commerce revenues here and expand our roster of local and global partners.”

During Glover’s tenure, Yahoo! Europe’s revenues jumped from $40m to $115m (&£27.7m-&£79.8m). He played a key role in developing relationships with Amazon.com and major mobile operators across Europe.

His departure comes in the wake of a string of high-level departures at Yahoo! Europe, most notably its former managing director Fabiola Arredondo.
