BMP/Claydon to share FSA task

The Food Standards Agency has appointed BMP DDB and Claydon Heeley Jones Mason to handle its creative advertising account.

The two agencies are understood to have pitched together for the business in a final head-on contest against Abbott Mead Vickers.BBDO. Delaney Lund Knox Warren was eliminated at an earlier stage, while WCRS pulled out of the pitch.

The work will comprise several projects relating to a number of food issues, and the budget is expected to run to several million pounds. Media will continue to be handled in house by the FSA.

A spokesman for the agency, which was set up last year to handle food issues such as labelling and safety, says there is no conflict caused by BMP DDB’s work for the Meat & Livestock Commission (MLC).

The MLC is launching a TV ad campaign for the British Pig Executive on Monday May 14, to promote red meat following the foot-and-mouth outbreak.

The FSA spokesman adds: “The agencies will be working with us on a number of issues. The first major campaign, about food hygiene, will break in the autumn.”
