Go on, ditch the bitch or bastard

Not wishing to sound pious, the Diary is rather disturbed by the latest attempt by marketers to capitalise on people’s personal hell.

Brookman, divorce lawyers, has given the thumbs up to Islington ad agency Joslin Shaw for a hard-hitting poster campaign aimed at couples on the edge of a marital breakdown.

Ads featuring images of husbands with packed suitcases and the strapline “Ditch the bitch!” will appear in men’s toilets in City bars, while women will clap eyes on a poster of a woman crying on a bed, accompanied by the strapline “All men are bastards!” when they powder their noses.

The Diary hears the idea was only accepted when lawyer Henry Brookman showed it to his wife and she insisted that they ran the ads. We hope the campaign doesn’t give her any ideas.
