Virgin appoints voucher chief

Virgin Incentives, the rebranded Virgin Vouchers company, has promoted sales and marketing manager Andrew Johnson to marketing director.

Johnson played a major part in rebranding the Virgin Group promotional arm in March this year (MW March 8).

He joined Virgin in October last year as group sales manager from his position as national sales manager at Legoland.

As sales and marketing director, Johnson will be responsible for strategy for vouchers and “experience” schemes.

Virgin Incentives launched Virgin Experiences as an alternative to promotional vouchers, which can be exchanged for goods or services from Virgin or partner companies.

Virgin Experiences offer activity-based gifts encompassing air, water and motor sports, cinemas and music, health and beauty, luxury holidays and seminars with leading business figures.

Johnson says: “Virgin Experiences has a wide range of activities to choose from, with many more under negotiation. Our aim is to be the ultimate experience and voucher company.”

The company plans to establish a business-to-business website, virginincentives.co.uk, with a call centre within the next month.

The website will be used as a brochure for products, giving consumers the opportunity to buy online. It is expected that ten to 15 per cent of vouchers will be sold through the website.

Virgin Vouchers has appointed Parenthesis Coventry (MW January 18) to handle its advertising, literature and exhibition stands.
