Boots is extending its holidaymakers service by opening five “travel clinics” in its Health and Beauty stores.
The chemist has teamed up with travel health information service MASTA (Medical Advisory Service for Travellers Abroad), to provide a complete health advisory service, including vaccinations.
Customers of Boots’ High Street Kensington, Milton Keynes, Leeds, Reading and Manchester stores will be able to receive up-to-date information on diseases, areas of political unrest, local food and drink as well as vaccines from a qualified nurse.
The clinics will be linked by an Internet-based management system, developed by MASTA that provides an up-to-date record of immunisations in the UK. The system is also linked with services provided within GP surgeries.
Boots Wellbeing Services managing director Phil Douty says: “When customers are about to jet off to foreign climes they come to Boots for advice on suncare and their over-the-counter medicine needs. Now we can offer a more complete package.”
As well as opening the clinics, Boots has combined with Wireless Data Services Ltd to provide text information to travel insurance customers via their mobile phones.
The services means customers will be sent their insurance policy number and an emergency phone number by text message.
Consumers will receive a welcome home message when they return, while annual policyholders will receive a text reminder when their policy is up for renewal.
