Capital Radio has appointed Delaney Lund Knox Warren to handle the &£5m advertising account for its flagship 95.8 Capital FM brand.

Delaney was appointed by the London radio station’s managing director, Andria Vidler, who joined from the BBC this year.

The agency beat HHCL & Partners and M&C Saatchi to create the station’s advertising. The review was overseen by the AAR.

Delaney is understood to have developed a campaign, to be aired shortly, that will mark the end of Capital’s “It’s your London” campaign.

The campaign has only been in place since the end of last year and was introduced by Capital’s former marketing manager Vijay Solanki, who left to join IPC at the end of the year.

The ad was developed by Mustoe Merriman Herring Levy (MMHL), which was appointed by Solanki on a project-only basis. MMHL now works for Capital’s rival station, Virgin Radio.

Capital Radio, which is the UK’s largest commercial radio group, recently reported a drop in first-half profits and predicted full-year profits would fall by 25 per cent. It was the company’s second profit warning this year. It blamed the economic slowdown, which has led to a downturn in advertising sales.
