Esure, Halifax’s telephone and online insurance arm, has appointed Delaney Lund Knox Warren to handle its multi-million pound creative account, following a pitch against St Luke’s and Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy. The review was conducted through the AAR.
The division will launch next month, offering motor insurance over the phone. Home insurance will follow in September. An Internet service will be launched in the fourth quarter of this year.
The account increases Delaney Lund’s relationship with Halifax: the agency won the &£25m account for the company’s core banking business last year.
Marketing for Esure is led by Ian Craig, who was appointed head of marketing after being poached from Direct Line Insurance last March.
Halifax is pumping &£150m into the new venture, with the intention of building a strong financial services brand, seen as independent from Halifax.
It plans to undercut traditional high street insurance retailers thanks to lower overheads. The company wants to be a top five motor insurer within five years, with 1 million policyholders.
Esure will next month open a call centre in Glasgow, employing 140 full-time staff. A further 400 employees are expected to be recruited over the next three years.
