Golden Wonder shake-up as marketing chief quits

Golden Wonder marketing director Nigel Parrott has quit the crisp-maker after eight years with the company.

Parrott has left to concentrate on new e-commerce ventures and is believed to be interested in setting up his own Internet company.

Parrott’s responsibilities will be overseen by development director, Paul Boothman, who will handle new product development and marketing.

Boothman reports to commercial director Paul Monk, who says: “Parrott has been instrumental in the success of the business, doubling sales of flagship brands such as Wotsits, Nik-Naks and Wheat Crunchies.”

Boothman has been at Golden Wonder for more than 15 years and was a member of the buy-out team, backed by Royal Bank of Scotland and Legal & General Ventures, which acquired the business in 1995 from Dalgety. Last year, Legal & General sold its share to venture capitalist Bridgepoint Capital.

Boothman also helped to secure a strategic partnership with US food giant General Mills.

He says: “Parrott made a huge contribution in his time here and leaves us with some good foundations on which to build.”

It is not known whether Boothman’s appointment will affect Golden Wonder’s agency roster, which includes Bartle Bogle Hegarty and Starcom Motive.
