Slightly sick of London’s seedy Soho

Sometimes the twisted heel of fate crushes the simplest plans of creative execs. But there must have been a voodoo curse on Spirit DPM’s attempts to shoot an ad for MTV Broadcast Services.

The agency’s creative partner, Peter Riley, art director, Viking Dan and an art buyer, known only as “Kate”, toddled off to Soho with photographer Adrian Wilson to film the ad in a rain-soaked, dingy street – only to be beset with mishaps.

First, the crew was battered by bouncers who mistook them for pesky paparazzi. Then they were helped to their feet by a pair of touting prostitutes, which gives the ad strapline – “Don’t get screwed in Soho”- a new meaning altogether.

To top it all, “Kate” threw up a dodgy burger in the middle of the set. But there was one consolation: the crew didn’t have to fork out on the tin of soup they were going to use as a prop.
