Warner Bros starts hunt for Euro marketing chief

Warner Bros Consumer Products is looking for a marketing director for Europe, Middle East and Africa.

The successful candidate will report to Malcolm Swift, managing director of Warner Bros.

Swift joined in August last year, after working for an Internet start-up company (MW August 10). He was formerly European managing director of Guinness UDV.

The new chief will oversee the licensing of all Warner Bros brands, which include Looney Tunes, Scooby-Doo, Superman and the new brand, Harry Potter.

The biggest challenge for the new marketing director will be to oversee the marketing surrounding the much-hyped Harry Potter film, The Philosopher’s Stone.

Warner Bros has already signed a deal with Coca-Cola worth $150m (&£107m). The deal, understood to be the biggest of its kind, means that Coca-Cola has the sole global rights to the marketing of the new film.

The deal came as a surprise to the industry as Warner Bros was expected to sign a deal with a fast-food chain.

No one from Warner Bros was available to comment on the new position.
