Allied loses global chief in wake of rejig

Allied Domecq senior vice-president of global marketing Mark Doorbar has left the wines and spirits group as part of a global marketing restructure.

The company will not replace Doorbar. His responsibilities will be shared between Simon Stewart, senior vice-president for core brands; Simon Hunt, senior vice-president of innovation; and Edward Beasley, senior vice-president of speciality brands.

Doorbar joined Allied three years ago as vice-president of global new product development from Bulmer, where he was consumer marketing director. It is not known whether he has a job to go to.

Kim Manley, who replaced Todd Martin as global marketing director in September last year and instigated the restructure, says Doorbar’s departure was amicable.

Manley says: “He wanted to move to a more commercial role. There were a number of positions offered to him around the world but he did not want to move to those places. It was a mutual decision.”
