The best boss: M behaving badly

A survey obtained by the Diary this week reveals that marketing professionals’ fantasy boss is Dame Judi Dench’s character “M” in the James Bond films.

Career psychologist Siobhan Hamilton-Phillips says the choice of M suggests that marketers “take their jobs seriously”. Proof, if any were needed, that career psychologists know naff all.

Interestingly, Dench was narrowly beaten in the Workthing.com survey by Martin Clunes’ character Gary in Men Behaving Badly. Gary is a drunken slob with poor social skills who hates his job. Insert your own joke here.

So what can we learn from this survey? It’s simple: if you want to launch an effective marketing campaign, give Judi Dench a call. Might cost you a bit though
