The Craik’s very good for some people
Summertime, and the living is easy far too easy in adland, it appears. While the Diary was enjoying a quiet drink in a Soho pub, a direct marketing agency team stormed in to shake things up.
Fresh from their success in bagging a large part of the Prudential’s below-the-line business, a team of creatives from Craik Jones Watson Mitchell Voelkel wandered into the boozer armed with video cameras and, bizarrely, song sheets.
Not content with a celebratory pub crawl, the team was apparently mincing round Soho pubs singing Bohemian Rhapsody. Perhaps they fancy themselves as Freddie Mercury replacements if Robbie Williams doesn’t fit into Queen when they tour next year. Added to this they were asking patrons to join in, and be filmed at the same time.
As for life in adland, the pub’s exasperated landlord hit the nail on the head: “They said it was a team-building exercise. Does anyone actually do any work round here?”
