Kraft Foods selects UK managing director

Kraft Foods has promoted Thibaud de Saint Quentin to the role of managing director for the UK and Ireland. He takes up his new post in October.

The newly created position follows the promotion of UK and Ireland director Brian Carlisle, whose remit has been widened to include Austria and Germany.

De Saint Quentin was previously managing director for the Benelux countries. It is not known who will fill the Benelux position.

A spokesman for Kraft says: “Thibaud will manage the business on a day-to-day basis, while Carlisle continues to be responsible for strategic direction.”

Kraft International owns a number of major brands in the UK, including Dairylea, Philadelphia, Kenco and Maxwell House.

In December Kraft consolidated its &£170m European media buying and planning business into three agencies: Zenith Media, MindShare and Carat (MW December 21).

The changes were initiated to give the company a more focused and strategic approach to European advertising.

Earlier this month Kraft announced that it has reached an agreement to acquire the central and eastern European confectionery business of German-based Stollwerck AG for an undisclosed sum.

Kraft Foods international president and chief executive Roger Deromedi says: “This is part of our strategy to rapidly expand our food portfolio in high growth developing markets.”
