BP poaches Charcol marketing director

Charcol marketing director Maria Davlantes has been poached by BP to fill the new position of vice-president in charge of marketing performance management.

Davlantes will report to Anna Catalano, group vice-president of marketing, and will be a senior member of BP’s global brand team.

Bradford & Bingley, Charcol’s owners, were unavailable for comment on what will happen to Davlantes’ role.

Davlantes was originally online marketing director at Charcol, but a restructure last year saw her promoted after marketing director Mark Howe moved up to become group marketing director at Bradford & Bingley.

BP was formerly BP Amoco but last year announced a rebranding following its purchase of Atlantic Richfield and Burmah Castrol.

The company spent $7m (£5m) on creating the new brand, which was backed by a $25m (£17m) advertising budget in the three months following the announcement.

BP has worldwide revenues of $148bn (£102bn) and profits of $8.4bn (£5.8bn). The company is present in 29 countries, employs 107,000 people, and has production activities in 23 countries.

The company has 29,000 service stations around the world, 17,300 of which are in the US.

Charcol was formerly known as John Charcol but was rebranded in 1999 when it was bought by Bradford & Bingley.
