Punch Retail creates new post of marketing chief to reflect growth

Pub estate owner Punch Retail is creating the new position of head of marketing to promote its nationwide pub brands.

The appointee will report to commercial director Andrew Knight. Responsibilities will include brand development, implementing retail marketing strategy and introducing new products and initiatives.

The head of marketing will lead a 20-strong team of commercial managers and marketing and promotion managers from within Punch Retail’s brand categories.

Punch Retail owns more than 1,200 outlets, with brands which include Wacky Warehouse, Two For One and Q’s. It was formed in 1999 when the Punch Group acquired Allied-Domecq’s pub business.

Its latest offering is the bar room bar chain, which is a “chameleon-like” bar, changing over the day to suit different markets.

The group has a &£200m turnover and is valued at &£3.5m.

A Punch Group spokesman said: “In the 18 months of its development, the company has been refocusing on the overall retail offer. Now the time is right to invest.”

The post is based in Burton-On-Trent and offers a package of up to &£100,000. It has been advertised in The Sunday Times.
