Luton Airport hunts marketing head

London Luton Airport (LLA) is recruiting a new sales and marketing director.

The creation of the position follows a reorganisation of LLA’s personnel over the past few months. Managing director Paul Kehoe was responsible for the marketing department until now.

The sales and marketing director will have full responsibility for LLA’s &£2m advertising budget. Last year, the airport appointed RPM3 to do its creative work and John Ayling Associates as media buyer.

RPM3 produced a London-centric campaign to illustrate the benefits of travelling from Luton Airport.

The job description for the position of marketing director includes managing sales and marketing, route development, PR and brand development. They will be required to focus on achieving a higher ratio of scheduled-to-charter services and to develop the airport’s cargo capabilities.

About 7 million passengers use Luton Airport every year, and it handles more than 35,000 tons of freight. It is also the home airport for easyJet in the UK.

LLA is owned by TBI, a former property company now an airport investment and management group. The company is the target of a &£517m hostile takeover bid by French contractor Vinci, which operates 25 airports worldwide. Vinci has just bought US airport services company Worldwide Flight Services.
