Virgin Energy chief takes on SWEB
Virgin Energy marketing director Gary Tubb has been given the additional responsibility of handling the SWEB brand. Tubb will now hold the post of sales and marketing director for both the Virgin Energy and SWEB brands, which are owned by the London Electricity (LE) Group.
Tubb, former marketing director at The Link, a subsidiary of the Dixons retail group, joined Virgin Energy in April last year. His promotion follows that of Virgin Energy managing director Jon Kinsey, who has been made managing director of LE Group (MW October 18). Kinsey has responsibility for the company’s three brands – LE, SWEB and Virgin Energy.
Kinsey replaced Martin Wenban, managing director and top retail supply marketer at LE, who left in June without a job to go to (MW June 14).
Virgin Energy was consolidated into LE after the company bought a 75 per cent controlling stake in Sir Richard Branson’s energy business in July (MW July 12).
Electricité de France (EdF), the parent company of the LE Group, is reported to be eyeing up UK distributor and generator Seeboard, which was put up for sale this year by its parent company, American Electric Power Company.
