Procter & Gamble (P&G) is to extend its Pampers nappy range into the household cleaning products market. Next month the company will introduce a spray cleaning product – Pampers Clean ‘n’ Play – to the US market, targeting households with children.

The product will be rolled out later this month, initially in the US.

The launch of Pampers Clean ‘n’ Play is part of a joint venture between P&G and a US-based manufacturer of own-branded cleaning products, Changing Paradigms.

P&G president of global baby care Deb Henretta says: “This is yet another example of the way we are building our baby care business and our Pampers heritage beyond just nappies and wipes.”

Changing Paradigms president Dan Meyer says: “We are establishing this category broadly based on the insight that a number of parents are looking for a household cleaning product to use around their children that is particularly mild, yet effective.”

Pampers Clean ‘n’ Play will be available at a recommended retail price of $3.99 (&£2.77) for a 500ml spray bottle and $5.99 (&£4.16) for a one-litre refill.

Last summer P&G launched Pampers Bibsters disposable bibs, to coincide with the brand’s 40th anniversary (MW June 7, 2001).
