Sorting the men from the boys

National Magazines managing director Terry Mansfield, fresh from riding around on a tractor to publicise The Farmer Wants A Wife, has now come up with another cunning stunt.

Mansfield, who was going to retire and now isn’t, probably because he likes dressing up too much, is putting forward his “boy”, Esquire editor Peter Howarth, to challenge GQ editor Dylan Jones to a boxing match.

The idea of these two dandies, whose minds are normally occupied by semi-spread collars and double cuffs, prancing around a ring is enough to make the Diary wet

itself.

As Marketing Week went to press, Jones was unable to tell us whether he would be taking Mansfield up on the challenge, which is scheduled to take place today (January 10) as part of a PR party to promote the January edition of Esquire. Perhaps he was down at the gym preparing…
