Currys has appointed Ian Ditcham as its marketing director, reuniting him with the chain’s managing director Nick Wilkinson. The pair worked together in the same roles at mobile retail brand The Link, which like Currys is part of the Dixons Group.
Ditcham replaces Euan Sutherland, who is on gardening leave before joining Matalan as marketing director in April (MW January 17).
Wilkinson was appointed to his new role last week, following the departure of Trevor Bish-Jones who will join Woolworths as chief executive in March. He had previously been group purchasing director.
After a year at The Link as marketing director, Ditcham moved to the same role at Dixons in February last year, before taking long-term leave last summer. He later returned to Dixons Group as director of direct business and e-commerce.
Wilkinson says: “Ditcham has an impressive track record and broad experience, which will prove invaluable in consolidating Currys’ reputation.”
Dixons Group chief executive David Gilbert became responsible for marketing services for the group as part of last week’s management reshuffle. In the UK and Ireland, Dixons Group operates under the Dixons, Currys, PC World and The Link retail brands.
