Maiden’s news service expands in London

Maiden Outdoor is rolling out its Transvision service to two more London train stations and widening the service to allow advertisers to target passengers on events such as Valentine’s Day.

Euston and Liverpool Street have become the latest stations to sign up to Transvision, a silent news service broadcast to large screens installed on station concourses. This follows the launch of the service at Victoria and Waterloo stations (MW January 25, 2001).

Maiden and news content provider ITN also plan to launch new Transvision products. These include news, business, sports and weather packages. Retail packages will also be offered to target weekend shoppers. Maiden claims the network will communicate messages to more than 19 million passengers every two weeks. Past advertisers include Camelot and JMC.

Maiden has also put together a series of packages for bespoke events such as Valentine’s Day, Wimbledon and the World Cup 2002.

Rival Viacom Outdoor is testing a system called XTP at Euston’s underground station, which will allow moving ads to be digitally projected onto the walls opposite platforms from March.

Advertisers and agencies will need to create silent ads for the medium (MW October 18, 2001). Viacom owns the contract to run advertising for the whole of London Underground.
