V Shop picks brand marketing chief

V Shop, the music chain, has appointed a brand chief to replace Brian Waring, who left the role of brand director last November (MW November 15).

V Shop promotions manager Nick Warren is taking on the role of head of brand marketing as part of a restructure that has involved the chain merging part of its marketing operations with sister brand Virgin Megastores.

Warren will report to V Shop managing director Chris Ash.

V Shop aims to appoint an internal candidate to the vacated role of promotions manager.

Warren says: “My main task will be bringing to life the brand vision through promotions and other forms of marketing. In the short-term we are concerned with seasonal opportunities, such as Valentine’s Day, Father’s Day and Mother’s Day and Easter to increase sales.”

V Shop is a 99-strong chain made up of rebranded Our Price stores, as well as new outlets. Before the creation of V Shop, Warren was promotions manager for Our Price.

Under the new structure, Virgin Megastores head of retail marketing Kerry Lee becomes head of retail marketing for both Virgin Megastores and V Shop. Virgin Megastores commercial director Steve Kincaid extends his role to become commercial director for both chains (MW January 10).
