Vizzavi to launch ‘Mobile Idol’ on back of Will Young single

Internet portal Vizzavi next week launches the first official spin-off product from ITV’s Pop Idol – a Mobile Idol gift box, to be sold exclusively by Woolworths.

Produced under licence by Vizzavi, the product will be launched on February 25 to accompany the release of Pop Idol winner Will Young’s debut single.

The Mobile Idol box is a standalone deal, separate from Vizzavi’s sponsorship of the Pop Idol show. The product includes six credits to redeem against ringtones, as well as logos, picture messages and celebrity greetings to customise phones.

The box will have a recommended retail price of &£7.99 and will be supported by point-of-purchase material at Woolworths, and by promotion in Vizzavi’s fortnightly e-bulletin to its customers.

In addition to its sponsorship of the Pop Idol series – a co-venture by 19 Television and Thames Television – Vizzavi is sponsoring a 19-date UK concert tour featuring Young and the other nine finalists.

The Mobile Idol ringtones include Evergreen and Anything Is Possible, which will make up Young’s double A-side single, to be released by BMG.

The voicemail greetings include messages from Young, Cowell and fellow judges Pete Waterman and Nicki Chapman. A CD-Rom includes video clips, competitions and a Vizzavi screensaver.
