Ford strikes Kylie sponsor deal to push new Ka model

Ford Europe is to sponsor popstar Kylie Minogue’s European tour to raise awareness of the latest Ka model.

As part of the deal, the StreetKa will tour with Minogue on her European “Fever” tour. The new Ka is not available until next year but will be showcased on Minogue’s tour this summer. Ford claims the partnership with the singer is a perfect match as both are “small and beautiful”.

The tour kicks off in the UK on April 26, then moves on to visit a number of European destinations including Italy, France and Germany and ends in Spain on 20 June.

Ford Europe vice-president of product development Martin Leach says: “Our decision to team up with Kylie Minogue is dictated by a need to connect with customers in contemporary ways, and exemplifies the spirit we’re trying to infuse into the Ford range.”

StreetKa will be formally unveiled at the Paris Auto Show in September. It is one of four new generation small Ford cars. The concept was designed by David Wilke at the Ghia Design Studio in Turin, Italy.

The Minogue tie-up is the latest celebrity signing for Ford. Earlier this month it announced a deal with Radio One DJ Sara Cox for her to become the face of its new Fiesta.
