Coty global boss moves to marketing services

Cosmetics company Coty has moved its vice-president for global marketing, Paul Joosten, to the newly created role of vice-president of marketing services. He has also been moved out of the London offices to Paris.

Former assistant vice-president of L’Oréal Cosmetics US, Emmanuelle Bonte, has replaced Joosten, who was responsible for the Rimmel and Adidas brands. Both Joosten and Bonte will report to Coty Beauty Europe senior vice-president Stephen Momoris.

Joosten will now be responsible for all media planning and buying for Coty, and also market research and public relations for all the brands. However, he will not be responsible for global marketing.

Joosten says: “I have been with the company for eight years and was the vice-president for global marketing for more than two, it is time for me to move on. This role will give me responsibility for all Coty brands within the company.”

Coty cast supermodel Kate Moss to represent its Rimmel brand last year. The TV ads were created by J Walter Thompson’s in-house agency, Label. This was a marked change in strategy for Rimmel as it was the first time it had appointed one person to represent the brand.

JWT was re-appointed to handle the European advertising business for Coty’s Margaret Astor brand last year. The agency lost the business to BBDO Dusseldorf in 1999 (MW March 15, 2001).
